Founder

MJ Tam is the editor of Chicagonista and the creator of City Connect Media, Inc. (CCMI), which owns and operates Chicagonista.com and other city sites including TheChicagoMoms.com.  Under CCMI she created Chicagonista LIVE!, the first live-streamed online talk show in Chicago, with co-host and broadcast journalist Nancy Loo and new media personalities Beth Rosen and Duong Sheahan.

The interactive #ChicagonistaLIVE show boasts a 4.7M Twitter impression during the one hour of the show and has broadcasted live from Chicago’s famous landmarks such as Willis Tower (formerly known as Sears Tower), John Hancock Observatory, Harry Caray’s on Navy Pier, McCormick Place, Hawthorne RaceCourse, Vienna Beef and many more.

MJ and the show have been featured in many traditional TV and print media outlets including CBS Chicago, NBC Chicago, Fox News, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, WBEZ 91.5, and more. She is also a frequent segment contributor for the Windy City LIVE, an ABC Chicago affiliate daily morning TV talk show.

Before professionally blogging, MJ once traveled extensively for the fashion industry and made rapport between major department stores and a New York based designer brand. There she got to dabble and write about fashion reports and compare trends among current designer brands. When the kids came along, MJ started writing about Chicago fashion and turned Chicagonista.com in to a Chicago lifestyles and trends site where she scours great places/events for “movers, shakers & baby makers." She also keeps updated on the newest and greatest on social media and tech. Her love of fashion and technology have suddenly become one.

Just recently MJ launched Women Driving Excellence with her good friend and ChicagonistaLIVE co-host Beth Rosen. It is a grassroots community using multimedia platforms featuring inspiring women who help start, accelerate, fuel, and steer others to excellence. They successfully launched by taking over Women’s Day at the Chicago Auto Show, honoring local Chicago women trailblazers and partnering up with the Chicago Tribune, RedEye Magazine, and Cars.com, and also landed major media exposures. They hope to bring Women Driving Excellence to other cities as well.
