LaWanda Toney has 15 years experience in the areas of broadcast journalism, public relations, advertising and marketing. She has worked in many realms of communication, from Hecht's Corporate, AOL, from Encore Marketing International to the National PTA. She has freelanced for Heart & Soul magazine and has managed a beauty blog, LA Beauty Beat. 

Mrs. Toney has built a career managing marketing programs, product development, communications and special events for major retailers, non-profits, publishing and advertising companies.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism from Howard University and a Master's in communications/public relations from Trinity University. She is a former board member of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of Black Public Relations Society. 


Zerline Hughes has worked in the communications arena as a journalist and media relations professional for 15 years. Her work as a staff reporter and freelance writer has appeared in such publications as the Los Angeles TimesBoston GlobeDance Magazine, and the Baltimore Sun.

Using her knowledge from the newsroom, Ms. Hughes has successfully garnered media attention for such organizations and individuals as New York Times Bestselling author Eric Jerome Dickey, the Justice Policy Institute, The Sentencing Project and the International Black Writers & Artists where she served as a board member for ten years. Hughes is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and is a former board member of the Black Journalists Association of Southern California.

Ms. Hughes holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and photography from Howard University and a Master’s of Science degree in communication management from Simmons College. She is a Big Sisters of Greater Boston volunteer/mentor and resides in the nation's capital.
